Jacob is One Month Old

Trying to smile...

I can't believe that a month has already gone by since the day that Jacob was born!  I honestly can't imagine life without him.  Our family seems so complete to me right now with him as a part of it.  Everyone keeps asking me how the adjustment is going and it is going very well.  Sam is doing amazing.  We really haven't had any jealousy issues at all.  In fact, he is just as in love with his little brother as I could have asked for.  He kisses and hugs him and always wants him with us.  He is just a great big brother.  I am doing pretty well except the weariness that comes with having a newborn.  The great thing about the second child, though, is that I know that it will end.  I know that I won't be feeding him every three hours forever.  Of course, we have our good days and bad days just like everyone else.  This week, I had a bad day...David had to go out of town for the day and when he flew back home, he went straight to meet with his high school guys, so he didn't get home until 8:30 that night.  Around 7:30, Sam couldn't find a specific matchbox car and he fell to pieces, Jacob was crying, and I went downstairs to find the car.  When I walked into the kitchen, I was welcomed by the evidence of a very sick dog.  Are you kidding me?  Tex can't need me right now.  But, what could I do except clean it up and get over it.  And laugh.  We also had many great days like when we stayed home all day and played monster trucks and cuddled and tickled on the floor.  All in all, this has been a great month.

I was terrified that I would have the same depression that I had with Sam.  But, glory to God, I am feeling great emotionally.  The Lord has drawn me into Him like never before and I hunger for His Word like crazy.  In His amazing power, He sustains me all day long to still get up and have time with Him before the rest of the house gets out of their beds.  He is always faithful to fill me when I ask Him to and He constantly affirms who I am as a mom.  Thank you for praying for me in this area!  I have no doubt in my mind that the Lord answered you!
