We love to decorate our house for Christmas. However, usually, we just decorate the inside of the house and I have a wreath that I put on the front door. We love to look at lights, but we've never had lights outside...until this year.
We received a notice on our door the other day that said, "Let's win best neighborhood...order your candy cane." My neighborhood is very nice, but we don't have the most neighborly neighbors which is very strange for our part of town, but it's just the way that it is. Seriously, I tried to take a plate of brownies to a neighbor who moved in and they literally grabbed the plate and shut the door without speaking to us. To their credit, they did come and apologize and bring the plate back, but most of our neighbors commute and we don't have a lot of kids on our street. Anyway, David and I were like "well, we have to get a candy cane; we can't be the only people on the street without one!." You should know that the candy cane costs more than we spent on Sam's presents this year. And, we said, "we can't just have a candy cane in the yard, we have to get lights." So, David (and Sam) put Christmas lights up while I went to our women's Christmas dinner and the candy cane was to be delivered that night. As I drove up to the house from the dinner, the candy cane just about blinded me. This thing is at least 6'5" tall and is wrapped in lights. It's huge!! And, the reason that it blinded me is that WE ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD WITH A CANDY CANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, if you are flying over our city and see lights that blind, it's our candy cane. I do have to say that Sam is very proud of it and he loves it. If you ask him if we have a candy cane he says, "yes, and it's GIANT." Boy, is it!
Merry Christmas!

Oh my gosh! No one else ordered one? That stinks! I can't believe what your neighbor did. Next time I see you I need to hear more about that.
