Boys Will Be Boys

Today, the boys and I were on our way home from the mall and Sam says to me, "Mama, I need to go potty really bad."  Jacob was asleep, so I asked Sam if he thought he could wait til we got home and he said he could not.  David's office is real close to the mall, so I called him to see if he could come get Sam and take him potty while I kept Jacob in the car.  No such luck.  Meetings.  So, I stopped at a secluded wooded area (where I could still get out and make sure all was well but be ok to keep J in the car) and let Sam do his thing.  It was against my nature, but I had to do what I had to do.

Fast forward to this afternoon.  The boys and I went to our neighborhood park...where I am still trying hard to make neighbor friends with moms who mostly have girls.  I am chasing Jacob all over the place and I look over and see my son's bum.  Yep.  He is going to the bathroom in the park..thankfully, into the bushes, but still.  Everyone was laughing (and if you know me, I was bright red from head to toe) and I just told Sam that we needed to go on home.  He laughed and I laughed all the way home.  I was so embarrassed, but my child certainly was not!

Last week we took Jackson and Annabeth to our neighborhood park. I was sitting happily on a bench with my newborn while Curt was playing with Jackson. Suddenly I looked up and saw my husband helping my son pee right there in the grass at the park. It would have been a long walk to any trees or bushes, so it was just in the open air in front of God and everyone. I was too tired to really care, but I was still amazed by my Big Boy and my Little Boy.

Okay, I'm a little frightened by the anonymous comment (surely not David) who said "like father, like son!" That said, I have so much to learn from you! Glad you're going 'first', and can prepare me for these moments. Ben told me this morning that he was going to get Cameron and put her in the potty and flush her down the drain. My genius response? "If you do that to your baby sister, your Mommy will put you right in there with her!" Heaven help us!!!

Tyler decided to drop his drawers in the Kroger parking lot on a grassy median. I was busy buckling Cooper in the car and I hear Tyler saying he has to potty. He proceeds to pull his pants all the way off and pees in the parking lot! Such BOYS!
