So today, the yard man came. Poor fellow. He had no idea that I have been having some hard days with Sam. Within two minutes of him powering up his lawn mower right outside Sam's window, Sam was downstairs. I took a deep breath and told myself to be thankful for the moment to have with Sam while Jacob was still asleep. Then, Sam asked to go outside and play on the swingset, so we went. We were swinging and singing when the man with the blower powered up his blower right outside Jacob's window and then proceeded to blow all of the yard trash into our backyard through the fence right into Sam's face as he was singing his ABC's. I went and got Jacob from his bed...poor startled child and marched over to the yard man. I asked who was in charge and started talking to "the" man about how they have woken up my kids every week for an entire year (even though Jacob is only eight months old) and how they blew yard trash into my three year old's face. Since this nice man's english was lacking, and my espanol is lacking, I started to do hand motions to explain to him that the blowing man should blow into the yard from which the trash came. Then, I tried to ask if they could please power up their machinery at the front of my neighbor's house instead of on the side yard where my kids sleep. Of course the man stared at me like I had twelve heads. All the while, Sam is pulling at my pants asking me why I am talking to this man and what I am doing with my hands, then imitating my motions...while I am holding Jacob who is just smiling at the nice man and Tex is about to come through the fence because there is a strange man in the yard.
And, all he said was that he could try to do better next week. Oh, dear.

Sherry~ This is Kelly Marler!! I wasn't sure if this was you, looked for a photo?? If it is, we taught Girls Bible study together through Fellowship. How are you??
I know it's not funny, but it is when you read it. I hope this post helped you vent a little. I have the same problem sometimes with my neighbor mowing during Zachary's nap; however, it really hasn't woke him. Carlee sleeps hard so it's impossible to wake her. Sorry my friend.
I know how you feel. Our apartment uses a landscaping company and they feel that they have to rev the machines the closer the building that they get. Of course this means the machines that they use are louder than ever and they get right next to the windows. My best friend, Lyda is on the bottom floor and she usually has to put the twins down for their naps earlier in the day or after they are done with our side of the building. I can understand that special time of the day that is nap time. Stevie doesn't take naps anymore but he does have some down time so I am able to have a little special me time, even if it is folding a load of laundry without having to break up fights over toys or answer a million questions. Keep you chin up, honey. Things will get better, and hopefully they will do what they said and try better next week. We love you!
As I read your story I just thought of the song, just beat it, beat it beat it, by Micheal Jaskson.
Sorry you have to deal with this. You wonder and wonder how much longer. I have to tell the truth I was laughing harder each moment as I finshed read the "yard man".
Glad to hear you've learned the first lesson in becoming bilingual. Talk louder and use lots of hand motions. Looks like Sam is well on his way also.

Too funny! I'm sure not at the time though. I understand though. The yard men in our complex always seem to work during naptime!
